We Love to Drink Wine
It was our last event of 2019, and even though we were still in November, there was an end-of-term party feel to the occasion.
A full house of guests were immediately won over by the delicious Anura MCC presented to them on arrival, and as we went through the tasting of six more wines, from the mouth-watering crisp freshness of the Sauvignon Blanc and the creamy smooth Chardonnay; through to the big-hitting reds in the form of the Malbec and Pinotage Reserves, the guests were thoroughly impressed by the whole range.
One of the stand-out wines of the evening was the Pinotage, or the Pinotage Reserve 2016 to give its proper title, as this was recently voted a winner in the 2019 ABSA Top 10 Pinotage, alongside established and well-known producers such as Beyerskloof, Kanonkop and Diemersdal. We’ve been privileged to have tasted 2 of the ABSA Top 10 Pinotage winners over the past 2 months.
A special mention must go to Emil Kanstinger from Anura, who kept us entertained with his stories, and managed to keep the descriptions of the wines and wine-making processes to a level where everyone understood exactly how the wines were created.
Nick (from abuzzWine, who brings the estates along to these fabulous evenings) is now of the opinion that these are not wine tasting evenings. They are now wine enjoying evenings. Judging by the fun everybody had, nobody would argue with that.
