“Botanical name: Protea Erica. Beautiful Fynbos plants that thrive in Western Cape gardens. There are over 700 species of Ericas, of which at least 50 are ideal for planting in the garden. Indigenous Ericas grow wild and in abundance in the mountains of the Cape. The woody shrubs are recognised by their almost artificial looking, perfectly crafted flowers. Shaped like miniature bells, their curved or puffed up tubes come in all colours except blue. The leaves are tiny and needle-like and arranged in small tufts.”
